The American Heart Associations BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to relieve choking (foreign-body airway obstruction). It also teaches how to recognize emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest and how to respond to them.
Intended Audience
This course is designed for healthcare providers who respond to cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, firefighters, and other allied health personnel or other emergency services personnel.

The American Heart Associations Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to relieve choking (foreign-body airway obstruction). It also teaches how to recognize emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest and how to respond to them. Additionally, First Aid for workplace emergencies is covered in this course.
Intended Audience
This course is designed for working professionals and the general public who would like to be certified to respond to cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies such as sporting coaches, retail employees, security officers, office managers, Bail Enforcement Agents, police officers, firefighters, or other emergency service personnel.
